Alessandrini._“Momentos estelares de la humanidad” (traducción de Pedro Juan Gutiérrez, Melancolía de los leones) _ _ Momentos estelares de la humanidad _ Una vez encontré a la mujer de mi vida. Lo sabemos desde el primer momento porque nos sentimos muy felices. Demasiado felices. Presentimos que mientras estemos juntos no moriremos jamás y seremos inmortales. Vamos a su apartamento. Me siento en la sala mientras ella hace café. Desde la cocina me grita que juegue con el doberman y una pelota de goma. “Trátalo con cariño, es como si fuera mi hijo”, me dice. Lanzo la pelota dos veces y él me la trae de vuelta, con mucha gracia. Es un perrazo simpático. Se derrumba de bruces sobre el sofá y parece un chiquillo alegre. La tercera vez regresa corriendo muy rápido, y al saltar vuela sin control sobre el sofá, se estrella contra la persiana de cristales y se precipita en el vacío. Estamos en el piso veintinuo. Bajo, traigo el cadáver de regreso, todo se mancha de sangre, y me voy. _ _ Stellar Moments of Humanity _ One time I met the love of my life. We always know from the very first moment, because we feel so happy. Too happy. We have the feeling that we will never die; as long as we are together we will be immortal. So we go to her apartment. I sit in the living room while she makes some coffee. From the kitchen, she calls to me, asking me to play ball with her Doberman. “Treat him lovingly, he’s like my son,” she tells me. I throw the rubber ball twice and he brings it back, very gracefully. He’s a nice big dog. He flops onto the couch, nose down, looking like a happy child. The third time he tears back fast, leaps, flies out of control over the back of the sofa, smashes against the windowpane, and falls into the void. We’re on the twenty-first floor. I go down, I bring back the corpse, everything gets covered in blood, and I’m off.
